The pace of the game felt a bit slower, than d3 and it was more akin to d2 while leveling up. There felt like there was enough space on the phone to do everything, where on the switch it felt impossible to see all of the information on the screen. The graphics were good (the demo phone was a note 9, so some what large). The AI for how skills auto detect who to attack seemed a bit off to me because it didn't prioritize elites. The virtual joystick and 5 skills are easy to learn (easier than I found playing on the switch personally). The game feels good, which was my biggest concern with actual game play. u/menagese and I had assumed it was because mobile games were big in China, and while Blizzard said basically the opposite when /u/menagese asked "Is this game not targeted for us as core Diablo players?" and they answered with "We would like to think that the game is target first and foremost to our core audience of Diablo players, and of course we would like to be able to capture new players in new regions as the game comes out." Blizzard refrenced "the east" multiple times, and personally my opinion is that the game was made for china/asia and perhaps the whales here in NA/EU.Īfter the group interview /u/menagese and myself figured we should probably play this game before going into our own interview. Most of the questions were simply why? Why would Blizzard release this. While in the group interview and while /u/menagese was transcribing to the live thread I started reading the live thread. This also gave an opportunity for me to post the "r/diablo interview, post your questions here thread. After 30~ minutes of it not stopping I locked the subreddit again. Once we go tup there and sat in the group interview it was obvious that the subreddit wasn't going to stop and that we were going to be hard pressed to come up with our own interview questions after all of the obvious ones had been asked in the group interview. Then /u/menagese and myself made our way to the group interview that was happening upstairs. Once the panel was over I thought maybe we could open up the subreddit again. Why are the same classes from d3 in the game if it's diablo 2.5? Why no witch doctor? How/Will this game even feel like Diablo? Once I started paying attention to the panel I found some things interesting like having new skills that were different from D3 but overall I just had more questions. After removing 20 rule breaking threads and seeing 50 more pop up I decided to lock the subreddit. I wasn't 100% paying attention to it because I knew /u/Thunderclaww was transcribing it to the live thread next to me and I decided someone needed to look at the subreddit, it was for all intents and purposes on fire. Right after the opening ceremony the "What's next" panel happened. Then I wondered why would the announce this here? As the announcement went on and it was shown just how little information they had about the release date, the pricing, and that it was being outsource all of my excitement faded. When it was finally Diablo's turn I was exicted, but once they announced Diablo Immortal my reaction was basically "Fuck, the subreddit is not going to like this". Of course I had saw the boxes over everything and started to agree that it could be a mobile game. Once I got past the "It's not Diablo" I began to wonder what our announcement would be. Of course as we now know it wasn't, and WC3 Reforged was announced. I'll go through my thoughts and feelings through out the days as various things happened.ĭuring opening ceremony I figured Diablo would be the last game on stage, and when the classic game dev came up I thought we were Getting Diablo 1/2 remastered. With that said please remain respectful, not only because it's the right thing to do, but if you choose not too your posts/comments will be removed and you could be banned from not just /r/diablo but reddit as a whole. I want to note this here so that everyone knows it.
